All my looks are a mix of high & lower end items so today I’m sharing where I choose to invest & what I normally save on!
SPLURGE – denim
I LOVE a good pair of jeans which is why I choose to invest more in my denim. I sat down around a year ago & realized I had 50+ pairs of more affordable denim that I was never wearing and some even had tags attached! I decided to get rid of all those & invest more in jeans that I actually liked & felt comfortable in. As you can guess, my investment denim has held up SO much better than the jeans I was wearing before! Some of my favorites are Good American & AGOLDE!
splurge – handbags
If you read my Handbag Review, you know this is one of my splurge areas! Designer bags are going to last you longer & can instantly step up any outfit. I’ve tried to carefully choose my bags to best fit me & my life! Read the full review for more details on how/why I choose my bags!
SPLURGE – BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I always splurge on skincare & haircare products and not just because I own a salon! I used professional products before I even had my cosmetology license for many reasons.
1 – I am a skincare freak! I don’t sleep in my makeup, I routinely use moisturizers/sunscreen, I don’t use tanning beds or spend too much time outside without sunscreen & sleep on a silk pillowcase LOL. I’ve always been this way because I would rather maintain it now then wake up in a few years & wish that I would have done it earlier!
2 – My hair has NEVER felt or looked this good. I get questions on my color all the time & it has not been easy to achieve & it’s still a process every time it’s colored but I know that my stylists are using 100% the best professional products to keep my hair in the best condition.
I’ve heard people say that professional products/drugstore products contain the same ingredients so why does it matter? They aren’t always in the same proportions & are probably derived differently.
I’ve also heard that professional brands are sold at the stores so what’s the difference? Professional products are meant to be sold by salons ONLY, not by the drugstore, a market partner, etc.
The products in the store could be watered down or honestly something completely different – we have no way of knowing exactly what’s in that bottle!
My favorite skin & haircare products include KEVIN.MURPHY, Eleven Australia, Sanitas Skincare & Tatcha.

splurge/Save- accessories
My accessories are a mix of splurge & save.
I have one pair of investment earrings that I wear every day & a few pairs of investment sunglasses because I wear them so often!
I save on items such as statement earrings, hats/headbands & rings for reasons such as – statement earrings may go in/out of style, my hats/headabands are only worn every once in awhile & my hands are always in something at the salon!

SAVE- TOPS & shoes
I always try to save on tops! I have a few basics that I repeat consistently such as tees or turtlenecks but I usually wear a top a few times then I’m ready to move onto the next thing!
I love a good pair of splurge shoes but most of my everyday shoes are saves!
Brands such as Steve Madden, Marc Fisher & Zara are my go-to’s. I especially try to save on sandals because they’re seasonal & can also go out of style quickly! I usually keep my splurges for weekends/special events.

SAVE- dresses
Almost all of my dresses and skirts are saves. I love boutique dresses or dresses under $100 because I can wear them casually or easily dress them up with a splurge bag/heels! I also save on jumpsuits/rompers & two piece sets because I usually only wear all these things in the spring/summer. I’m more of a knit & boots girl in the winter!
SAVE- outerwear
I try to keep my outerwear under $150, of course a good winter coat is so needed in Ohio but I love fun jackets such as my leopard faux fur & plaids. I would rather have more trendy pieces to dress up a winter look than one splurge jacket because I like to rotate them!
tips!
I buy a lot of neutrals in both my high & low pieces because I can easily pair them with other items & ultimately get more wear out of it.
Set a budget for a high end item or look into money saving apps, I just heard of a site where you can choose an item, set the $ amount you want to save weekly/monthy & when you’ve saved enough it purchases the item automatically! I love designer items but I budget for them too!
For beauty/hair products, ask for samples! Know that you love the product before investing.
Clean out your closet! I regularly post things on Poshmark to free up space & for money to invest in new pieces!
